Wi-Fi Analyzer Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Wi-Fi Analyzer Android application (version 1.0.0) handles information. It applies to the application itself and is separate from the LincroCore Ltd corporate website Privacy Policy.

About this application

Wi-Fi Analyzer is an Android network utility developed by LincroCore Ltd, a company based in the United Kingdom.

This policy describes the current application implementation (version 1.0.0). It explains information that may be accessed or processed on the device, how optional user-initiated network diagnostics work, and how that differs from information collected by LincroCore Ltd.

Information processed by the application

Wi-Fi Analyzer uses Android system APIs to access wireless network information that the platform makes available when the required permissions are granted.

Wi-Fi scan information is primarily processed locally on the device. Wi-Fi scan information is not automatically uploaded to LincroCore. The current application does not use a LincroCore backend to receive Wi-Fi scan data.

Wi-Fi scan information

Depending on what Android exposes and the permissions granted, the application may access and display information such as:

  • SSID
  • BSSID
  • received signal strength (RSSI)
  • channel and frequency information
  • band classification where supported
  • channel width where available
  • Wi-Fi standard information
  • advertised security capabilities
  • other network capability information exposed by Android

Scanning is performed when you use the application. The current application uses manual refresh and does not perform automatic background scanning.

Permissions

To discover and access information about nearby wireless networks, and to support optional network diagnostic features, the application currently declares the following Android permissions:

  • ACCESS_WIFI_STATE
  • CHANGE_WIFI_STATE
  • ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
  • INTERNET
  • ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION
  • ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION
  • NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES

NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES is declared with neverForLocation where applicable in the implementation. Android version and platform requirements determine which permissions are needed for Wi-Fi scanning.

The application does not currently request background location, phone, SMS, call log, contacts, storage/media, camera, microphone, Bluetooth, or app-declared notification permissions.

Location-related permissions

Wi-Fi Analyzer requires location-related Android permissions because Android requires these permissions, and enabled Location Services, for access to Wi-Fi scan results on relevant Android versions.

Wi-Fi Analyzer does not obtain or store GPS latitude or longitude. The application checks whether Location Services are enabled so that Wi-Fi scanning can be available, but it does not collect geographic coordinates.

These permissions are not used by LincroCore to track your physical location. They are requested so Wi-Fi Analyzer can scan and display nearby wireless network information.

Local storage and scan history

Users can save scan snapshots locally. Scan history is stored locally on the device in an app-owned SQLite database.

Stored observations can include SSID, BSSID, RSSI, band, channel, frequency, channel width, security, Wi-Fi standard, and timestamps.

The application currently retains a maximum of 50 scan snapshots. Available age-retention options are Never, 7 days, 30 days, or 90 days. You can delete locally stored history from within the application.

Signal-history samples used for the signal graph are temporary in-memory data and are not stored as scan-history records.

Application backup is disabled for the application. No cloud synchronisation of scan history is currently implemented.

CSV/JSON exports and sharing

The application can export scan information and history in CSV or JSON format when you choose to do so.

Exported files are created only when initiated by you. Temporary export files may be created for sharing through Android sharing functionality. You choose the destination or application with which the exported information is shared.

LincroCore does not automatically receive these exports. Once you export or share a file, the destination app, service, or recipient may process that information according to their own terms and privacy practices.

Internet and network communication

Wi-Fi Analyzer declares Android network and Internet permissions because the application includes optional network diagnostic features.

Wi-Fi scan information is not automatically uploaded to LincroCore. The application does not currently use a LincroCore backend to receive Wi-Fi scan history or diagnostic results.

Network communication occurs when you choose to use features that require it, including Network Test, Ping, Trace Route where supported, and Speed Test.

Network Test may communicate with local network resources and public Internet endpoints in order to test connectivity.

Ping sends diagnostic traffic to a preset or user-selected target.

Trace Route may send diagnostic traffic to a selected target where trace route functionality is supported by the device.

Speed Test communicates with speed.cloudflare.com and transfers generated test data in order to measure Internet download and upload performance. Speed Test does not upload Wi-Fi scan history, SSIDs, BSSIDs, user files, or exported files to LincroCore. LincroCore does not currently operate a backend that receives Speed Test results.

These diagnostic functions are initiated by the user and do not run as automatic background diagnostics.

External network services involved in these tests may receive technical information normally associated with Internet connections, such as the device’s public IP address and network request metadata.

Connection information

The application may display information exposed by Android about the active network, including where available:

  • IP addresses
  • gateway
  • DNS servers
  • Private DNS
  • routes and related network properties
  • VPN, metered, captive, or validated network state

This information is used locally to display network status and to support user-requested diagnostics. It is not automatically uploaded to LincroCore.

Mobile information

The application may display a limited set of mobile/network information made available by Android without phone permissions.

The application does not collect IMEI, phone number, or Cell ID.

Analytics and telemetry

The current application does not include an analytics SDK, telemetry system, advertising SDK, crash-reporting SDK, or Firebase SDK.

No LincroCore backend currently receives automatic application diagnostic uploads or automatic Wi-Fi scan uploads.

Advertising

The current application does not include advertising.

Data sharing

It is useful to distinguish how information may be handled:

  • Wi-Fi scan information is processed locally on the device and is not automatically sent to LincroCore.
  • CSV/JSON files are created only when you deliberately export data. They may leave the device if you then choose to share or transfer them using Android sharing functionality or another method.
  • Network traffic is generated when you deliberately run Network Test, Ping, Trace Route, or Speed Test. That diagnostic traffic is sent to the destinations involved in those tests and does not mean that LincroCore receives your Wi-Fi scan database.
  • Information is received by LincroCore only when you voluntarily send a support, contact, or bug-report email.

Support and bug-report email

The application can open your email application using a mailto draft for support, contact, or bug reporting. The application itself does not directly send email through a LincroCore SMTP service. You must choose to send the message.

A bug-report draft may contain limited technical information such as application version, Android release/API level, device manufacturer/model, and a relevant feature name.

If you send the email, information you voluntarily include will be received and processed by LincroCore for support purposes.

Website access

Opening the LincroCore website from the application is user initiated and opens https://lincrocore.com. Ordinary website access is not automatic application telemetry.

Data retention and deletion

Locally stored scan history remains on the device according to the retention settings and the maximum of 50 scan snapshots, until you clear it or uninstall the application.

Temporary and in-memory information, including signal-graph samples and diagnostic session results shown in the application, is not retained as persistent scan-history records.

User-created export files remain under your control on the device or with any destination you choose when sharing.

LincroCore does not maintain a cloud copy of application scan history or diagnostic results under the current implementation.

Email correspondence sent to Support may be retained as reasonably necessary to handle the enquiry and maintain appropriate business records.

Security

Reasonable measures are used to limit unnecessary data handling. Local application data remains subject to Android device and application security. No security measure can eliminate all risk. You remain responsible for how you store, export, and share information from your device.

Children

Wi-Fi Analyzer is a technical network utility and is not directed at children. It is not intended to collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the application, platform requirements, or legal requirements. When changes are published, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be updated.
